FitnessFest Stories: Tracy

July 19, 2017

My fitness career started in the early 2000s at the Arizona State University Student Recreation Center. I taught aerobics (as it was still called then) and was as green as green could be! As I began to learn more about the career path and what was required (including continuing education), I was fortunate enough to find FitnessFest -- a local event in my area that was reasonably priced!

I remember going to one of the earlier conferences that just offered a couple of workshops. I kept going back each year because it was local and economical. And every year, it just kept getting bigger and better! More presenters, more incredible workshops with the hottest fitness trends, and then the FitnessFest Expo grew too.

After MANY years of being a regular attendee, I asked Janice if she could use any help on the staff end of things. Little did I know where that would lead me! For the last four years (minus the year I moved to Colorado), I have been a FitnessFest staff volunteer. It IS hard work...but Janice and the FitnessFest team make it fun for us AND we get to be a part of the workshops. Staff volunteers can participate in workshops (once we get our work done), plus we get to hear all the great information, interact with the presenters, and earn CECs. Since I live in Colorado now, FitnessFest dates get put on my calendar as soon as they are announced. I fly out specifically to work at FitnessFest!

This is truly one of the most amazing fitness conferences in the country. Over the years, not only have I gained fitness knowledge, I’ve made many friends among the staff, presenters, and participants. It’s like coming back to see my Arizona fitness family every year.

Thanks Janice for letting me be part of the FitnessFest family!       -Tracy
